New Item 15litre bag Vermicompost/worm castings. This is the product of hundreds of busy hungry worms chomping their way through a variety of organic material, and what comes out their rear ends contains many times more nutrients than what went in the front end.
Vermicompost makes an excellent plant pick me up, and a little goes a long way.
It is one of the best natural soil amendments, full of micro-organisms and micro-nutrients and can be used on a wide range of plants - indoor and out.
* use as a liquid feed
simply mix half a cup into a bucket of water and allow to brew for at least four hours, this can then be diluted further to make a plant tonic
* use as a top dressing
sprinkle a little of the dry vermicompost on the surface of outside pots to give the plants a slow release tonic - each time the plants are watered, a little of the nutrients are released, this works really well for plants that have been in the same container for a long time. It is also useful for perking up the soil in greenhouse.
* use as a planting medium
add 1 part vermicompost to 10 parts potting compost for plants that have a high demand for nutrients.
When preparing the soil for new plants, add a good handful to the planting hole and it will give the soil a microbial boost and help get the new plant off to a great start.
